Dick’s Picks - Nov 23-26

By: Richard Johnston

Am I just a bunch of mid? I’ve been towing the line if .500 for what feels like a month now. It’s rivalry week, I’m putting my mid reputation on the line. If this blog does not go 60%, I will venmo one lucky fan 1 whole dollar. All you have to do is retweet the blog when m’lord Ron gets it published to the bird app. I’ll be on the plains this weekend so if you see me out, let’s talk locks. Cheers, let’s recap. Oh yeah here’s a couple of videos of my favorite tik toker, WorldOfTShirts,  to lead us into the weekend.

Arizona -1 ✅   Full domination of Utah. One of the best feel good stories of the year.

UGA -9.5 ✅  UGA Team Total over 35.5✅    Tennessee did the thing where they start good and then fall apart. If UGA three-peats I might be at the bottom of the lake.

K-State -9.5❌     Kansas had their 3rd string QB and still gave K-State a run for their money. Lance Leipold is a damn good coach and should be the highest priority for any major program during this year’s coaching carousel.

Oregon State -1.5 ❌  Over 62.5❌     Swing and a miss.

Clemson -7.5  ✅  Over 59.5  ❌  Clemson Team Total Over 34.5❌     I got greedy thinking Dabo would do something other than just sitting on the lead in the second half. They had multiple chances late to at least get over the team total.

Browns -1.5 ✅  Under 33✅    I might be a Steelers whisperer, know when to hold em and when to fold em

Lions -7.5 ❌  Over 48✅     Detroit gutting this out will be beneficial in the long run, but if this safety is a touchdown, they’d be a great team and not just a good team.

Jets +7❌    Did I really just on Zach Wilson on the road in Buffalo?

Broncos -2.5❌     Maybe if they turned one of the field goals into a touchdown, I wouldn’t have egg on my face

Eagles +2.5 ✅   Over 45.5 ❌     The birds won and AJ Brown didn’t even do anything. Soupy?

Featured Games Record: 8-9

This week’s total record:  14-16

Overall Record: 95-104-3

This week’s Outright Dog Record: 2-3    -.65u

Overall Outright Dog Record: 10-11    +2.2u

Ole Miss (-10) @ Mississippi State

O/u: 55.5

The egg bowl is something I always look forward to flipping the channel every Thanksgiving night. After you’ve stuffed your face full of turkey, sweet potato casserole, mac n cheese and most importantly, stuffing, you can turn your attention to what makes college football great. It doesn’t matter if these teams are bad or good, something crazy seems to always happen in this game.

My pick here purely relies on vibes and double digit underdogs at home on a short week is just way too many points. Lane Kiffin will probably piss down his leg when he starts hearing the cowbells ring. I still love the homie Juice even though his dad sucks.

Mississippi State +10

Oregon State @ Oregon (-13.5)

O/u: 62.5

I goofed on picking the Beavers last week. They had everything pointing them as far as the home crowd, the dreadful weather, and the style of game that was being played. They have to disappointed and probably drained from that performance. The Ducks have been flying high lately and this might actually be the year for Bo Nix. There's been quite a bit of Nix slander concerning the degree of difficulty of his throws and while I acknowledge that he gets the 80 yard screen pass every once in a while, he is a legitimate Heisman candidate and even Ron can’t take that away from him.

The Ducks at home will avenge their loss to the Beavs from last year and will do so in style as they prep for a rematch with Washington for the Pac-12 title.

Oregon -13.5

Ohio State @ Michigan (-3.5)

O/u: 46

Loser leaves town and whines about being the 5 seed in the final rankings. I’ve been impressed by Ohio State the last couple of weeks and on the flip side, Michigan has looked rather disappointing. I also think there is some truth to JJ McCarthy being a little dinged up. I think without Harbaugh on the field this is the only game they are actually going to miss him. Ryan Day also has a lot more pressure on him to beat Michigan after being embarrassed the last two years. Lou Holtz will finally atone for his sins against the Ohio State program.

Ohio State +3.5    Under 46

Alabama (-14.5) @ Auburn

O/u: 49

Most people might look at this number and think Alabama isn’t laying enough points. To that I say, have you ever seen the iron bowl when it’s taking place in Jordan-Hare? Not only do weird things happen in that stadium, Hugh Freeze is going to have something up his sleeve for Nick Saban’s Crimson Tide - or at least he better after Auburn got molly wopped by damn NEW MEXICO STATE last week. I still don’t want to talk about that one but here I am, taking the home team as a double digit dog. War Damn.

Auburn +14.5

Florida State (-6.5) @ Florida

O/u: 50

This game sure looks a lot different after FSU’s win over North Alabama last week. As you probably know, Jordan Travis’ leg decided it wanted to bend the wrong way and now he’s out for the rest of the year which is a crushing blow to the Noles’ title hopes. Longtime backup Tate Rodemaker will step in and try to keep the dream alive as they face the Gators and probably a top 10 team in Louisville next week.

Don’t forget, Florida will also be starting a backup QB with Graham Mertz getting hurt against Missouri. This game might be ugly and sloppy but I’m trusting the better coach.

Florida State -6.5

Green Bay Packers @ Detroit Lions (-7.5)

O/u: 47

Same line new week. These new Lions needed a game like that to keep them honest going forward. If they would’ve lost that game to Chicago, then they’d be the dreaded “F Words.” Frauds. But we don’t have to deal with that! As a Carolina fan, I want Ben Johnson as my next head coach. I’m tired of Frank Reich. Anyway, the Packers are like me, mid. Give me the Lions to give their fans a happy thanksgiving!

Lions -7.5

Jacksonville Jaguars (-1.5) @ Houston Texans

O/u: 48.5

We’re Jaggin off in Houston. CJ Stroud went into Jacksonville earlier this year and punked the Jags so I would think this is TLaw’s get back. Clemson > Ohio State. Jags!

Jags -1.5

New Orleans Saints @ Atlanta Falcons

O/u: 42.5

Need to take a nap? This is the game for you! If Derek Carr plays in this game I would like an alternate under at whatever you can give me. I’m sure bozo Artie Smith will ignore all the talent on his offense and defer to Allgeier and Scotty Miller to make plays. Snore, dirty birds go marching.

Falcons PK    Under 42.5

Cleveland Browns @ Denver Broncos

O/u: 35

Cleveland, your times up. Broncos Country, let’s ride. I’d like to buy some stock in Denver being the 7th seed in the AFC. Sean Payton has this team rolling after looking worse than the team led Nathaniel Hackett last year. I still think this is a snoozer but we’re letting Russ cook.

Broncos -2.5    Under 35

Buffalo Bills @ Philadelphia Eagles (-3.5)

O/u: 48.5

E A G L E S   EAGLES!!!

Birds got me right last week even if they looked lack luster on offense. The Eagles defense stepped up when they needed to even if Valdes-Scantling helped them out at the end of the game.

Buffalo may have figured some things out or, and hear me out, OR the jets flat out stink and Zach Wilson should be fired into the sun.

I WANT THE BIRDS AGAIN. GO BIRDS.

Eagles -3.5    Over 48.5
